The square wooden range light has a broad base and steeply sloped sides covered by wooden shingles. The gallery is carried on iron brackets and has a metal railing. The range light was designed by the Department of Marine. The builder is unknown. The original light was on a mast and was first lit in 1868. It was replaced by a 6.1 m square (20 foot square) wooden tower in 1877. The present tower was moved from its original location in 1907. It is very similar in appearance to the Port Borden Back Range Light.
