SUMMERSIDE FRONT RANGE LIGHT

OLD SUMMERSIDE RANGE LIGHT (Private Residence)

This old range light was built in 1898 and has been inactive since 1961 when it was replaced by a metal skeletal tower. It is 11.5 m (38 ft) in height. It was sold and moved to a private property at McCallum’s Point, on the way to the long rock breakwater which leads to the Indian Head Lighthouse. The whole structure is clad in cedar shingles, with a red roof and white trim. It has had extensive additions, yet is still unmistakably a range light.
