Old Cape Tryon Lighthouse. Carol Livingstone.
OLD CAPE TRYON (decommissioned)

Visitors touring along some of the narrow country roads along the Gulf of St. Lawrence might be surprised to find an old lighthouse not marked on any of the maps. That’s because the original Cape Tryon Lighthouse is no longer an active lighthouse, but a private residence. It has been moved and its exact location is not for public information.

It was built in 1905 and operated until 1969. It was a wooden lighthouse approximately 11 meters (36 feet) high with a lantern and gallery mounted at one end of a two-storey house. The upper portion of the roof was flat. The old lantern was left on the original lighthouse when the new Cape Tryon Lighthouse was built. The lighthouse is painted white with red trim and a red lantern. It has been well restored.
