What is a Laureate?


Laureates are Canadian physicians, medical scientists, health care professionals and citizens who have made outstanding contributions to medicine and the health sciences. A Laureate may be honoured for a single meritorious contribution or a lifetime of superior accomplishments.

Awards are bestowed in the categories of Applied Research, Basic Research, Builder and Clinical Care.

Medi-Centre features the first 49 Laureates who were inducted into The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame from 1994 – 2001. Visit The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame's website to learn about the 22 Laureates who have been inducted since 2001.
