These pages represent a small fraction of the thousands of fungi
found in Nova Scotia and in eastern North America. Not all species
of even the common genera are included, nor are the identification
features, large nor small. Therefore identification of your
specimens will not be possible using this website alone. Field
guides and expert opinion should form the basis for all identifications.
This is especially important if the collector seeks edible species.
We wish only to present you with a sample of the dizzying array
of the fungus among us.
Remember, if in doubt of identification, do not consume.
