BURNED-OVER GROUND
Burned-over ground is a tempting habitat for many species of fungus. Some are found nowhere else. Peziza praetervisa specializes in growing amongst charred wood in old fireplace sites on campgrounds. Charcoal Pholiota (Pholiota highlandensis) commonly fruits in burn zones.
