The term 'readymade' describes art created from found objects or images that are not normally considered art, often because they already have a mundane, utilitarian function. These 'readymade' components are undisguised, but often modified and recontextualized. Marcel Duchamp coined the term 'readymade' in 1915 to describe his found art, but assembled the first readymade, entitled Bicycle Wheel in 1913. In the 1960s found 'readymade' items were important to both the Fluxus movement and to Pop Art. Contemporary artists often use 'readymades' found online as important components of larger Internet based artworks.
