When I joined the company our main communication system was telephone. Telegraph key was on the way out but it was still there for messages and emergencies. So lots of times you had to use the telegraph key for train orders. But you always had to use it for messages. And smaller stations, where train orders were probably eight or would have probably eight or ten per shift, but terminals were really busy and that was your main job, was copying train orders.
