Grand Falls

With the train route running through Grand Falls this community became one of the busiest stations for freight and passengers. This location offered great resources with its access to rich timber grounds, the possibility of hydroelectricity, and a nearby deep-water port at Botwood. These resources led to the establishment of the Anglo Newfoundland Development Company in 1905. Provincial Archives, The Rooms.

After construction of the pulp and paper mill in 1909, this area soon became a very important stop on the railway. Soon people from all over the Island were drawn to Grand Falls to find work in the mill. Grand Falls Heritage Society.
