The Brooks and District Museum was bult on seven acres of land in 1974. It was created with the mission to collect, preserve and portray the cultural heritage of Brooks and District through natural history specimens, artifacts, documents, maps, information, etc. which is signficant to the history of this area.
The museum is organized to be a "Walk Through The Ages". There are exhibits portraying the life of a rancher, the war years, the N.W.M.P., the Canadian Pacific Railroad, and the Eastern Irrigation District. The museum also houses displays saluting the oil industry and early settlers, including the Fourth Duke of Sutherland and John Ware. About the Collections Approximately 20,000 artifacts in 17 different buildings on 7 acres of land. Approximate number of objects in the collections: 20,000 Archives A very small archives with articles on the history of Brooks and surrounding area and on the citizens of this area. Human History History of Brooks, County of Newell and the area north east including Steveville and Pollickville. Natural Sciences Paleontological Collections : Fossil Collections : Fossil Vertebrates (Vertebrate Paleontology) : Fossil Plants (Paleobotany) Services & Activities Educational Programs Give tours and demonstrations for children, schools and special groups.
