Vision: Celebrate the history and pioneering spirit of Stony Plain and Parkland County.
Mission: Collect, preserve and present the artifacts and stories of Stony Plain and Parkland County. Guiding Principles: As an organization, the Pioneer Museum values the following: • Facilitating education and lifelong learning. • Preserving founding cultures and community heritage. • Recognizing the knowledge, skills, and efforts of our volunteers. • Contributing to the quality of life in the local community. • Encouraging active participation and involvement of residents of all ages. HISTORY First building moved on to site in 1989, building restored and collection displayed. Open to the public in 1992. Tea house added and opened in 1994, and is run solely by volunteers. Museum now comprises of 13 buildings and over 5000 artifacts situated on approximately 9 acres. Three more historical buildings are planned to be added in 2010. Became a year round institution in 2009 and began offering art, crafts and other classes both to seniors and general public. All programs for public as well as elementary education in conjunction with corriculum,are being expanded. Also an artifact restoration program was also started in 2009 with all work being done by volunteers.
