In the late 1930s, Armand Senécal was a travelling salesman for the Salada Tea Company and visited several mining towns in Abitibi. He took the opportunity to shoot footage with his 8mm camera.
This crudely edited amateur video features many scenes filmed in Rouyn on various occasions. You can see, among other things, people shopping and walking on the Rouyn train platform or on the wide streets of this city built on the shores of Osisko Lake. Several scenes were filmed during a wide range of events: fires, grand openings, horse races, water landings, etc. You can see the tall chimneys of the Horne mine smoking in the distance.
