Frederick Raymond was a draftsman and surveyor for Moore & Monroe in London, ON. He had previously served three years with the 7th Fusiliers Regiment and two months with the 7th Field Company Canadian Engineers. He enlisted in the Canadian Engineers Training Depot in Valcartier and later transferred to the CETD in Crowsborough, Great Britain. Lieutenant Raymond died at age 27, on 31 March 1917 at St. George’s Hospital in Hyde Park, from a supposed self-inflicted gunshot wound. A personal plaque for Lieut. Raymond was dedicated in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, ON.
He is commemorated on page 313 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
