Private Harding was born in 1885 in Sussex, Great Britain, and moved to 82 Glenwood Ave, London, ON, prior to the war. He was employed as a labourer and enlisted in B Squadron (Depot) of the Canadian Mounted Rifles on 19 October 1915. In May 1916, he was sent to France to serve in the Bordon Motor Machine Gun Battery, and he began in the field 8 December 1916. He was killed in action on 24 March 1918 on the West side of Clery-sur-Somme, attempting to block the advance of a German Division.
He is commemorated on page 423 of the First World War Book of Remembrance (Memorial Chamber, Peace Tower, Parliament Hill).
