The Great Peace was a tremendously important event that brought together more than a thousand people from different First Nations and the French, in Montréal. The treaty had a major impact on political history, putting an end to Franco-Iroquois wars and conflicts between the Iroquois and the Great Lakes nations over the fur trade. All in all, nearly forty First Nations and the French signed the peace treaty.
