Introduction

After the United States of America, Canada was the second-most important destination of emigrants from Schwaben-Neuburg in the 19th century. Between 1849 and 1851, almost the entire population of Probfeld in the Donaumoos region chose Canada as its new home. This story is uniquely documented here.

This Learning Collection is based on the Virtual Museum of Canada exhibit Canada-Germany Migration, a look at selected aspects of the historical, sociological and cultural impact of German migration to Canada.
