The natural surroundings of his native Urals were a constant source of inspiration for Leonard Turzhansky. This painting depicts the street on which the artist’s house was located, in the village of Malyi Istok. In the foreground is the painter’s wife with his twin sons. The study, painted in a spontaneous style full of lively colours, uses an interplay of colours ranging from yellow to green, enlivened with strokes of red and blue. The rather vague shapes give the mirage-like effect one can sometimes see in the summer heat.
