Manzo Nagano, the first Japanese known to settle in Canada, arrives in New Westminster, British Columbia. The event is commemorated a hundred years later in 1977 by the naming of Mount Manzo Nagano in the region of Rivers Inlet where Nikkei were pioneers in the commercial fishing industry.
