The Dream of a Team

Japanese immigrants to Canada began arriving on the Pacific coast during the 1870s and 1880s. Mainly young men, they fished or worked in lumber mills and mines. An awareness of baseball - yakyu - developed among these early immigrants, the Issei and their children, the second generation Nisei. They came to love the game.
