Japanese term meaning ‘of Japanese descent,’ referring to Japanese immigrants and their descendants.

Founding the Club


Five years after the team's founding, the Asahi Baseball Club won its first title, the 1919 Vancouver International League championship. Earlier that year the team sent no less than twenty-six players to Seattle to play Nikkei teams in the Pacific Northwest Japanese League championship.
