Japanese term meaning ‘of Japanese descent,’ referring to Japanese immigrants and their descendants.

The Vancouver Asahi club organization had earned a winning reputation that attracted players and coaches from other Nikkei teams. The club gained stature in the Nikkei community and beyond. Nearly half of the city's senior baseball league's 1920 all-star line-up were Nikkei, including two brothers - Mickey and Eddie Kitagawa.
