Dominion Day

Dominion Day was the original English name of the national holiday commemorating the formation of the Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867, later renamed Canada Day in 1982.

Lemon Creek championship

In the summer of 1943, on Dominion Day July 1st, the Lemon Creek All-Stars, coached by Ty Suga, challenged teams from three nearby camps in the Slocan Valley. Players and fans were allowed for the first time to travel to come together. They cheered their hearts out, their morale revived. Lemon Creek won.
