20 000 BCE: The Big Chill

Glaciers - colossal masses of moving ice - covered southern Ontario for one million years. If one could fast-forward over this Pleistocene era, one would see glaciers advancing and retreating like waves on a beach. By now the glaciers are receding north, leaving behind landforms of bare rock, sand and earth.
