Winona's first school was a private school, located closer to the Fifty Creek than the modern one.

Another early family was that of Levi Lewis. Lewis and his son built a political legacy in the pre Confederation era.

The Lewis House is one of the few remaining buildings of the earlier era.

Fifty Point Conservation Area hides one of Winona's oldest landmarks: the Inglehart House.

This house, dating back to 1815 came into possession of old of the old families, the Carpenters, before becoming public property in the 20th century.
