Comments from the judges (Pam Bennett of USA and Brenden Casement of Edmonton, Alberta)

General~ Millet is a picturesque town south of Edmonton, with just over 2000 residents.
Millet has many voluneers that go the extra mile to make Millet the prettiest town in Canada.
The efforts of the community to purchase the school bell, bring it back to Millet and make it a focal point are exemplary.
The renovation and planting of flower boxes throughout the community was outstanding and appreciated, especially by the residents of the seniors centre.
Pipestone Creek is a gem in the community with its natural habitats and wildlife.

Tidiness~ Overall- a clean, tidy, weed-free community.

Environmental Awareness~ The town and volunteers are doing a good job of using Pipestone Creek as an environmental tool, and the judges encourage the expansion of the opportunities for this jewel in the community.

Community Involvement~ There is great community involvement in the many projects and activities throughout town.
Volunteers do something almost every weekend to benefit the community.
The municipal government provides strong support for the activities and programs in town.

Natural and Architectural Heritage Conservation~ What a fantastic Museum, with an excellent use of Volunteers who have developed and maintain it as a 'state-of-the-art' facility.
The weekly articles in the local paper are great; making it into a book is commendable.
The efforts that have gone into the research for information to develop the plaques is outstanding.
Pipestone Creek Park is an excellent example of a well preserved natural heritage site.

Floral Displays~ The beautiful hanging baskets downtown set the tone for an enjoyabke visit. They are well maintained and cared for.
School kids and their plantings are a great asset to the town, and their involvement is a great was to instill a love for their community and horticulture at a young age.
The random plantings at the Agriplex is great, is fun, attractive and tells a story about the town. A recognition sign in the bed bed would make the citizens and visitors aware of the great efforts of the children and also give them a boost.

Turf & Groundcovers~ There is a nice distribution of turf and playing fields throughout the community.

Twinning Effort~ The flower bed that was a tribute to Waringstown was well done. The removal of the Irish flag was appropriate.
