The Queens County Museum opened in the birthplace of Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley 15 June 1967. The rainy weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowds that gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Queens County's most famous son. In attendence were Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley's two granddaughters, Alice Tilley MacKeen, wife of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Margaret Tilley Mears, and a representative of the fifth generation, Jamie Moreira, grandson of Mrs. MacKeen. Mrs. MacKeen and Mrs. Mears were very generous donors to the museum, providing most of the family pieces that remain part of the collection.

Today, the Tilley House, a National and Provincial Historic Site, remains part of the Queens County Historical Society & Museum Inc. Along with telling the broader stories of Queens County culture and heritage, the life and legacy of Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley is a special focus. The parlour is decorated to reflect the mid-Victorian style of Thomas and Susan Tilley and the small bedroom off the parlour highlights the May 1818 birth of New Brunswick's most outstanding Father of Confederation, Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley.
