Cemented traps ready for rigging the heads into them. Todays fishermen cement their trap bottoms for weight to hold them on the ocean's bottom. It is mixed with cement and fine gravel. In days gone by, the fishermen picked up flat ballast rock and held them in with lathes. They also used large rocks inside their traps for extra weight in the beginning of the season. Once the traps soaked up with water and were heavy enough to sit on the ocean's bottom they took them out.
