Interview with Anne Bridgman - Anne Describes Bridgman's Pick Your Own Farm in Winona
It gradually became, we had more and more pick-your-own customers particularly for the sweet cherries and I remember my aunt made a big sign that said 'Pick-Your-Own Cherries' and that was the first, we had at the end of the road, and that was the first year that we sold all our sweet cherries pick-your-own. And of course there's definitely an advantage to selling things pick-your-own in that you're not paying people to pick and to sort and as far as the people are concerned, like they actually think it's fun to pick and it's an outing for them and people love to actually see things growing on the trees. And it's actually a very pleasing way to as a grower to actually have the direct contact with people that are actually consuming them and appreciating them and enjoying the farm and, you know, for me, I enjoy sharing the farm with people that come to do that.
