This photograph appeared in a local Newfoundland paper and had the caption " The Long and Short of It ". These two cadets were either getting fitted for their summer camp uniform or were preparing for their physical examination given to every cadet upon arrival at Greenwood. If any medical problems arose they were sent to the camp hospital where they received the best of care. This was exceptional since universal medi-care had not yet arrived and personal medical insurance was unheard of. Many cadets would wait until summer camp to seek treatment for a chronic condition or a toothache.

For a boy coming from a small town in Newfoundland, Greenwood had it all. The pool was especially appreciated by many cadets who were not used to really hot summers. Some cadets, however, could not swim and there was no summer instruction in that activity during the early years of the cadet movement. None the less, all cadets still talk about their fun at Summer Camp Greenwood.
