A local sawmill owner from nearby Kevisville was often seen arriving at the Dickson store with a full load of lumber and then leaving for home with a large load of groceries and supplies. The lumber taken to the Dickson store was resold locally. A lumber shed had to be constructed to store all of the lumber and allow it to dry. Fred Habekost constructed the lumber shed just east of the store.
