The Regional Park worked with the Canada Centennial Committee in 1967 and constructed a new hall on the location of the old bowery. Rodeo dances were held there for many years.

"In 1969 we played for the Wood Mountain rodeo. We were just kids and we never expected to get hired. Usually somebody like the Melody Five from Rockglen or the Southern Four from Fir Mountain were hired. There was four of us in our band, Don Chubey, Don Petersen, Morley Eklund and myself. We called ourselves the Lovin' Bottlefulls. We played all those western songs, like Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves. And some of those popular 1960's songs like Henry the VIII."

For nearly one hundred years it has been the goal of young cowboys from Wood Mountain to win in their chosen competitions at their "home" rodeo. Often it's the hardest rodeo to place at. For example, it took Wade Popescul nearly fifteen years to finally take first place at Wood Mountain.
