In 1877, to improve her health, Harriet with her daughter Abby, a recent graduate of Stanstead Wesleyan College, (photo above) spent several months in Colorado where her brother was a rancher. Letters home were long and full of detail.

John Child Colby was the younger son and youngest surviving child of Charles Carroll Colby and Harriet Hannah Child Colby. He was born in Stanstead 25 November 1873, and educated at Stanstead College.
