The first schools in Little Chicago were a cluster of four identical buildings. Three buildings housed grades one to six, and the fourth was for grade seven students. Until the South Turner Valley High School was built, the older students had to go to a school in Turner Valley.

"There was a small public school close to our house. Most of us in town had about one block to walk to school during our years in elementary and grade school. Many kids who lived out of town came on horseback".
- Dale Tufts
