There were many industries in Oshawa that helped contribute to the Canadian war effort. Companies such as General Motors of Canada, Pedlar People Limited, Robson Leather Co. and Duplate made parts for boots, shells, ammunition and other military items for the Canadian Forces. Some of these companies even switched to 24 hr production to meet wartime demand.
