Thunder Bay Military Museum History Series: HMCS GRIFFON

TRANSCRIPT

Procedure for New Recruits consisted of a medical exam and, if found acceptable and had the required education for their trade, they would be attested by an officer. After this, the recruit would move to a supply depot where a complete set of service uniform, "necessities" and a hammock would be issued and imprinted with their service number and/or their surname. Approximately 100,000 volunteered for service in the RCNVR during WWII, of which 2,800 passed through the recruiting office of HMCS GRIFFON.
