TRANSCRIPT

There are still a lot of extracurricular activities. The activities nowadays are different from what they used to be, but the motivation is the same - the girls like to experience different horizons and see their teachers outside the classroom. For example, we're preparing a special evening of celebration for the sixth-graders now graduating elementary school. It's an incredible event and everyone's invited to be there. Emotions will be running high when the graduates show they've finished one stage and are about to begin another. This is the kind of activity the students enjoy. There's also the whole range of activities available to elementary school pupils during the lunch hour. I can't name all of them, there are so many. Then there are the organized trips and outings. I'm thinking about the camps, like the one in Lac-en-cœur. Last fall, we went to Québec City as part of training in the social sciences (formerly known as the human sciences) and we had all kinds of experiences related to the subject. Activities like this give us a chance to get to know each other better and to experience different kinds of situations, because we're outside the classroom and school environment. For a school to truly stand out, it has to offer a wide variety of activities. Teaching is the essential ingredient, of course, but it's the activities that make for a vibrant and interesting student life. They offer something for every taste and preference, this is their major benefit.
