When I was a boarder, visits were rather limited and were reserved mainly for parents. Visitors could come at noon, during recess or after supper. We could receive a few friends, but never a boyfriend unless he was accompanied by a parent. Things were tightly controlled. We would go into the parlour with our visitors, but we didn't have the right to go anywhere else with them.
