'My mom was at the crossing, 14 days very, very, long. She was horrifically sea sick. And even after my parents sold the farm, my brother and I thought it would be nice if they bought waterfront property. My dad loves the water. Loved fishing, loved boating. My mother was adamant against it. She said 'No. I don't want to be anywhere near the water!' and I think it had a lot to do with those two weeks of just too much water, not feeling good. As a seven year old, it made a lasting impression.'
