Kirkland Lake: The Town That Made The NHL Famous

TRANSCRIPT

Coaches and players

You have to give the coaches their dues and respect, because don't forget it would be 10, 15 below zero, we didn't have players benches we would all be standing, up in the snow banks, ready to go on and then we'd break and then we'd go in the ice shack, everybody would have purple feet you know, burning and that, but ready to go. And you know, there was a lot of great coaches and it was just a lot of fun. And none of the coaches...it was more the guys that, I know...that excelled in the sports. But it seemed like the same guys excelled in football, all the same guys excelled in baseball. A lot of the hockey players are good baseball players are good hockey players, they like sports. And every once in a while some of them are even good in school [Laughs]. Not that many [of them] excelled in school but every now and then you'd get the odd one, you know.
