They played baseball in the summer and in the winter a rink was made at the back of the school where students skated and played hockey.
Students also had toboggans and sleighs.
In later year, hockey became quite well organized and boys' hockey teams from the school competed with teams from the residential schools at Pelican Lake, Kenora and Fort Frances.
Grants
In 1931 there were 75 students at the school and the annual per capita grant was $160.
The principal requested an increase to the grant because the Pelican and Cecilia Jeffrey schools received a per capita grant of $165.
He also asked for an increase in the number of pupils approved for the school as it was capable of holding at least 80 according to Dr. Bell.
By 1945 approved enrolment at the school had risen to 131.
Illness and Death
At McIntosh in March 1943, no classes were held for 10 days due to an outbreak of 'general grippe'.
Recorded Complaints
The only two complaints noted in the available records for McIntosh, dealt with the maintenance of the school.
The Principal had been trying to obtain new fire extinguishers for the school and repairs to the furnace and hearth for over a year.
