The school was located on Pelican Lake about 6 miles by air from the town of Sioux Lookout.
Access to the school was boat or train from Sioux Lookout and possibly by float plane.
Repairs
The exterior of the building needed repairing as many of the boards were warping.
The principal requested that fire-proof insul-brick be installed of the exterior boards as the school had become very difficult to heat during the last few winters.
Safety
While there was equipment to fight fires the school had to depend upon its staff and students to operate the equipment and to fight a fire.
