More education, new technology. They thought there was greener pastures on the other side of the fence. So the younger people mostly left the farms and went out. Well there was just the older people left on the farms. So the younger people didn't want to come back on the farms. So when the old people was gone, what was there to do? There was no one to keep the farms going. Many beautiful old homes were down. But that was really the cause of the farming. When you take the cream off the milk, grandpa DesBarres used to say, there is just the skimmed milk left. So when you take the young people away, there's just the skimmed milk left. So that was the beginning of, but everybody went down so fast. There wasn't many young men that's why. See when the young men disappeared, well it was easier for the farms to go down.
