TRANSCRIPT

Leo L`Estrange: There was no hot springs when I got here. There was a pool there. The people had been gone. Maybe that's wrong. Possibly people who had lived here a lot of years; I think at one time there were buildings there at the hot springs, in the '20s or the '30s I believe that there were, and I believe that they burned down. There was a very large lodge close to the hot springs-it had been built after I had came here. It had burnt down, too. Now, when I came here you walked into the hot springs, now those have been a right of way cut into the bush. It was still a trail, but some of the old timers can remember driving in, they remember the lodge being there. But there was nothing there when I came here. There were many holes around it where people scooped out the soil and dug a little trench into it and you'd flop around in the water. It was kind of fun. The thing that I remember about the hot springs is that there were always a lot of grouse around there [laughter]. I guess they liked the warm pool. You don't see many grouse around town today.
