WM - Wilma (Miller) Morrison, interviewee / NP - Natalie Przybyl, interviewer

NP: When were you working for the Navy again?

WM: mmm [19]59 to... no... [19]58 and [19]59. Yeah. Then I left to come down here. So...

NP: [indecipherable]...the Navy...[indecipherable]

WM: Yeah; yeah. It was great. And that was the year, [19]59 was when the seaway opened. So we got a chance to see the, the uh, Burlington Skyway, uh, being built, you know, because you could see it across from our offices, 'cause the, the offices were right on the waterfront. And uh, we watched the big ceremony when they were putting in the last span and we laughed because, "big engineers," there was the crane there, and it was lifting it in and lifting it in and it was going down, and down, [voice changes indicating the span missing the bridge and continuing down to the ground; chuckling] and down, and down... They had, all the bigwigs were there, [laughing] you know, the Minister of Highways and the, all the... anyway. So, uh, they had to come back the next day and [laughing] complete it! So there were many years that I went on the old bridge [still laughing] 'cause I wasn't sure... But, anyway, yeah... And then of course the, the, uh that was the year the Queen came. And the Yacht Britannica was sitting, was parked right at the dock, right beside our building, so of course we had, got a chance to - she didn't invite me in for tea, but we got a chance to tour the Britannica. Yeah. Mhmm.
