JG - James Gibson, interviewee [with Wilma (WM) Morrison present] / LR - Lyn Royce, interviewer

JG: Fact, I worked at the [Canadian National] Exhibition 1 time. I think I was 10 or 12. I was an African, uh, guy and I had 23 wives or some damn thing...

WM: Oh, you wish...

JG: ...you know and I think I was 12. 12 or 13, or somethin' like that. And I actually had to do a little dance; I invented a little dance to do. And all the people were '... this African' [laughs]. And when my... what was his name... his name just went through my mind, I forget the guy, the black guy that ran the whole African deal there for the Exhibition in those... in... you know the group... Course, I liked it 'cause... on the Midway, I could go into any place I wanted to go. I had a free pass. I can go behind the scenes and watch how they do things. It was great for me. Then I had to wiz [sp?] back for my act, right? And there was a light skinned guy there, who laid [sic] on a bed of nails - real nails, OK -and I would go, jump on his chest and do a little dance. OK? But I was kinda jinikured... I had... I couldn't even sit on these things... I put my hand, they were REAL! Right? And I used to ['dances' in his chair and laughs] on his chest! And if you... I don't know if you've ever danced on anybody's chest, but it moves, OK [laughs]. It slips around, so I mean you have to keep your balance and to safety. You didn't want to fall - you may hit that nails. Oh, yeah... [on a sigh] ...that was a good adventure.
