The Stirling house was a house of music, there were two pianos, a violin and a flute, and the scene of many musical gatherings. Georgina
and her six sisters showed an aptitude for music; their father was a music lover and was determined his daughters would have all the advantages he could provide. There were music lessons and hours devoted to music and literature making for an exciting and a very active adolescence.

Like many young women of the day, Georgina attended a college that taught academic programs as well as music and art. Her stay at the Toronto Ladies' College was short but very beneficial. The College was under the direction of Miss Isabella F. Mathieson and was located at 60 Gloucester St., Toronto, and existed for only a short time.
