'Glovertown Shipyard' was established in 1977 by the Burry Family of Glovertown. In 1983 Mr. Bob Davis bought the shipyard, and in 2003 Mr. Harvey Humby and Ford Dowden became the new owners. The shipyard currently employs approximately sixty people.

Most of the vessels range from forty-five to sixty-five feet in length and are constructed of steel and fiberglass. Wooden boats were constructed in the past. Multi-purpose vessels (long liners) are most often built at this site. The shipyard has a construction capacity of 120'. One hundred thirteen boats have been built in this ten acre site.

In addition to building new boats, the shipyard repairs and refits boats. They also build barges. This diversification helps promote them in the business world.
