This afternoon, I went to help my father chop down trees. While my uncle and he were sawing through the trunks, I cut the branches that had already fallen. I think my uncle wants to build another barn so he needs a lot of logs.

When we were done with the trees, my uncle took the load to the sawmill to have it milled for construction.

It is the month of April and winter is almost over. The snow is almost gone. The whole family went to town last night to see a play at the church hall. It was wonderful! I'd really like to be an actor one day, because I love the stage, the costumes and the audience's reactions.

The Chanoinesses organize a lot of plays with their students and the townsfolk. Meetings, visits from important visitors, Saint Antoine Day, the distribution of awards and evening card games are all appropriate for presenting an artistic program. Also, the Cercle Jeanne d'Arc members regularly present drama and comedy.

My older brother, Georges, had a meeting with his association tonight, the Cercle Jeanne d'Arc. They meet about once a week. The association's goal is to educate young men and teach them how to speak in public. Their club is open every night and young people can go play billiards, cards or ping-pong.
Audio: "And us, the men, we had the Jeanne d'Arc association. We were quite a large group. We'd have meetings every week in the old rectory, the old part of the Foyer now. At the Feast of Joan of Arc, the whole association would attend. It would start with mass and then a lunch in the old parish hall, the one that burnt down. (During the meetings), speeches were made by various people. We would have guest speakers. On several occasions, priests from St. Boniface came to give conferences."

I went to visit my bachelor uncle Saturday because he just bought himself a new car. We rode in the town's streets and I felt like a king. I can't wait to grow up and work to be able to afford great things like that.

In June 1929, the priests published this article on driving rules in the parish bulletin:
The Driver's Ten Commandments
1. Know how to behave.
2. Know how to drive your car.
3. Always have licence plates on your car and your driver's permit in your pocket, both in good standing
4. Keep your head clear, as the old policeman would say: Have one drink, but not two.
5. Always, when it is possible depending on road conditions, keep to the middle or the right, never to the left.
6. Meet on the right, pass on the left.
7. Check your rear lights because if you don't catch it, the police will surely catch you.
8. Do not try to pass those that are better drivers or else you might live to regret it.
9. Do not leave, Sunday morning, before the whole Mass is through.
10. Do not invite anyone, on Sundays, preventing him from attending Mass. Plan the day before.
Follow these commandments and you will live in peace with God's and man's laws.
