The 109th Victoria and Haliburton Battalion, formed in November 1915, was a unit of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel J.J. H. Fee, the battalion was formed from volunteers living in Victoria and Haliburton counties. By the summer of 1916, the battalion headquartered in Lindsay had reached a strength of 1050 men. Leaving Halifax on the S.S. Olympic in July 1916, the 109th battalion was -allocated to reinforce other Canadian Expeditionary Forces, the 20th, 21st, 38th, 124th, 126th, and the 156th.
