Edith Nora Hillary (1902-1993)

Nora Hillary contracted polio at a young age and as a result did not attend school until she was 8-years-old. She worked in the office of the Children's Aid Society and in 1981, when the Aurora Historical Society acquired the property, she became the resident curator of Hillary House until 1992.

Mary was the first member of the Hillary family to own a car and was an avid gardener. She has left her mark on the Manor's landscape, having been responsible for establishing the large perennial garden north of the barn.

Horace "Holly" Douglas Lancaster Hillary (1907-1999)

A jack of all trades, Horace Hillary held several occupations ranging from that of a salesman selling Beatty washers door to door, to being a farmer and banker. In 1940, Holly married Mary Emma Webb and they had four children.
